Allietarecherith clue 1 completed

Finished up today. As I retired this past January I am purposely enjoying the journey. This quilt will be a graduation present to my daughter Cherith from nursing school and uses her favorite color RED.

I love the Reds and neutrals. I don't have much gray so this is very interesting to me. My cat is always around me when I sew or cut. Was in lasts years quilt, at some time I will quilt that one.

I enjoyed some Italian music while completing this clue.

I have a dedicated blog for this quilt and this is the link:  http://allietarecherith.blogspot.com/

Thanks for stopping by!

Allietare inspiration....wild and goosey

The days are passing and soon the mystery will begin. Someone gave me the idea of doing the wild and Goosey blocks in same colors as the mystery. I had some swatches that had the colors an some scraps so worked on these yesterday. So cute...maybe a pillow?

Evenings I continue working on my English Manor Carson Theme quilt. It is on the last side border and then I have a small border to do. I found the perfect fabric for the prairie points, but had to order it on line.

Then another wonderful surprise, the book from Ebony with the picture of my quilts. The front and back of the large one and the miniature quilt.

Then doing some wild and Goosey blocks in the upcoming mystery colors....so fun.

Gypsy queen. Is coming to an end...here is last clue before assembly of all the pieces next week.

Is this the layout????

Playing with scraps...

I have accumulated a lot of scraps from my recent and past quilt projects. I have saved them like others. Bonnie Hinter has been by cheerleader on scraps and wonderful ideas to incorporate them into quilting. The past few days I have been sewing "wild and goosey" blocks. I have of course been addicted like so many others. Yesterday put a few together along with some string blocks. I listened to a quilt cam that reviewed how to do these. The below is the final result. So pleased that I will use the scraps from the upcoming mystery to make dedicated blocks.

So pleased that I will continue the blocks and use the drive to AZ to remove paper backing.

Tumblers and Wild & Goosey...

Decided to thin down some of the tumblers cut and redo some that are not the right size as I was cutting them is mass amounts while sorting fabric. In the process decided to try Bonnie Hunters Wild and Goosey paper piecing blocks. I have not done much paper piecing but decided to try it with some of the reject tumbler blocks. It is true you cannot do just one. So I will work on a few of these and maybe would be good to remove paper back on trip down to AZ in January. Just passing the time waiting for this years quiltville mystery to begin. BLACK FRIDAY!!!!!

Gypsy Queen...in final weeks...a little work on Tumblers...

Freezer cleaning on the agenda today. Not much left in freezer, need to use up most by January prior to travels to AZ.

I did two blocks for Gypsy Queen...hope that is enough as it is hard to divide 5 blocks in half. May have to improvise. The it was on to tumblers until Cherith called with nursing questions. Currently hand quilting.

Sewing area cleaning....

Today was designated cleaning sewing area. First up was a few shelves that have just gotten messy. We may be moving next summer so wanted to go through some of those things. The my sewing table and surrounding area. Wanted to get this all cleaned up and variety of projects put way and clear area for impending quiltville mystery. Got all my hand quilting thread together and thought about hand sewing projects to do this winter in AZ. Found a hand quilted project that needed the binding attached so will finish that one up tonight.

Evenings have been hand quilting my Downton Abbey quilt. It is coming along nicely.

Had some visitors trim trees by power lines and left a present. So nice the coveted Yearly Christmas cookie book with some great recipies. Maybe next week will try a few.

Downton Abbey quilting update

On the last 12 large blocks of this quilt. I am loving this quilt design and using black to quilt it. Nice pattern and not getting tired of it. Maybe will finish these blocks end of this week. Trying to quilt every evening. I so would like to finish the main quilting by the end of the year. I am skipping over the smaller solid dividing borders within the quilt, as I can quilt them later. So exciting to add folded prairie points to this quilt. I think it will pull it together in the end. May enter in a fair.

Here is a close up...

Nursing scrubs..a quilt?

I retired from nursing in January. We had a garage scale and attempted to sell my scrubs...but no buyers. I spent a few days cutting them up for fabric in future quilt projects. I ran across the "no name block and decided they would be perfect. Nice remembrance of my nursing in home health. Here is the result.

I found a fabric that I might use in the Allietarecherith mystery. Scrubs in Cherith's quilt....perfect.

I also finished another row on the Downton Abbey quilt. Now to stitch around the next border and then to the final 8 larger blocks and final border. Making progress.

Last week I got into crocheting a few things. Nice break from my quilting. This week returned.
I have gotten my fabric and added a few pieces for Bonnie Hunters annual quilt mystery Allietarecherith as I am calling mine for my daughter Cherith. So ready to go except getting machine ready and bobbins filled.

My greatest achievement is my Ohmygosh quilt...flimsy completed. Able to take a few pictures outside today although not sunny, but grass is still green. This quilt now awaits hand quilting. So planning to start this late spring or early summer. I have designated this as my 25th Wedding Anniversary quilt. A very cute quilt all hand sewn.

I was able to finish this week's clue for my Gypsy Queen. Sure is looking like a great quilt which has am doing two color themes.

I also found a no name block that I am doing a few blocks with fabrics from my old nursing scrubs that I cut up. A nice remembrance of my nursing career.
Tomorrow will continue working on it and the look to my sewing stuff and start potentially packing should we move in spring. Not planning on regular sewing in AZ..will do hand sewing projects or quilting.

The ordered fabric has arrived and I am liking it. I decided to add a few more fabrics that I have that are smaller yardage it they work. This will love be a red, gray, black quilt with bits of gold. I think this will be a fabulous quilt. I will plan on hand quilting it.

Hannah's quilt complete...

This quilt will be presented to Hannah on graduation day and call day at Martin Luther College in May 2016. Will probably take a picture and include some of fabric in card for that day.

Purple is her favorite color. The pattern is Carousel by Ebony Love. https://www.lovebugstudios.com/blog/tag/carousel-quilt-along/

Some of the material is from her Dear Hannah quilt and some new fabrics. The backing is her favorite hockey team...Washington Capitals.

Finished the binding this evening. Machine quilted so assure it was done before she came home for Thanksgiving. Will take some daytime pictures tomorrow and then send it thru the washer.

This is a brief look at "Ohmygosh " quilt. I have the final top and bottom borders to attach. This one will wait a bit for hand quilting. Would like to finish Downton Abby mystery. Also end of the month will begin Allietarecherith. This one I plan on hand quilting for Cherith's graduation.

Next year will limit projects as I have several quilts waiting to be quilted..
