Packer Game-Lambau Field ( going to new heights)

Last evening we went to Packer Tailgate at Farve Steakhouse and watched a preseason football game (Packers and Eagles). This time we were able to sit with family. We got seat up on the Shopko gate side and sat way up near the new scoreboard. We were on the seventh floor looking down. Great perspective of the whole field and patrons. Had chairs and cup holders. Was a fun evening even though the defense did not play well. Young quarterbacks did play well.

Gypsy Queen ...week of cutting...mystery

Using two color schemes. Cutting not bad. Slightly short on some fabrics but nothing too severe. Able to find close matching fabrics. Just need to cut out the backing.
Today is Cherith's last day working at assisted living. Off to Junior year of nursing school tomorrow. Abi leaving tomorrow to start working towards occupational therapist. House will be quiet. Tomorrow off to Packer pre-season game with tailgate with sister/brother in law. Should be fun!

Car wash and wax

Girls are off today and heading to college on Saturday morning. Nice day for a car wash and wax job. The girls have never waxed their cars. This is something I used to do at my parents on Saturday or Sunday on my Firebird car. I just cleaned the inside of our Prius. Also did some weeding of the flower bed.

Maggie as puppy

Last picture of Maggie. Was put to sleep yesterday on National Dog day. She was biting and scratching a lot and it just was time. She will be missed by mom and dad. You see their have been 3 Maggie's all the same. Girls did not know the difference. We saw her two weeks ago.

Hand quilting...progress

It has been awhile since I spent significant time hand quilting. Yesterday afternoon and evening I was able to complete 1 1/2 blocks. I used the circle pattern for the first block and the second one I am using half circle patterns. The two corner blocks that are identical will have cross line quilting. This has several small borders so will practice some border quilting designs I have found. This one might get done sooner than I thought. But I am caught up on some of my quilt alongs.

The Ten Commandments QAL

Just posted is The Second Commandment. Just finished my two blocks. I did not post the first block so here it is. The bright colored blocks will be a twin size quilt. The scrappy colors a foot quilt for a bed. Wonderful quilt along.

First Commandment

Second Commandment.

Will spend rest of day doing some hand quilting on miniature English Manor quilt that I started hand quilting yesterday.

Monday doings

Sure feels like fall with the wind and cooler temperatures, just fine by me. Exhibition football this weekend had the Packers loosing. But they lost so much more. Jordy Nelson may have torn up his knee. MRI today. Then the stock market taking such a dive over a thousand points this morning, but some recovery. Then there are the girls. Abigail and Cherith have transformed our living room into a staging room in preparation for returning to college on Saturday. Then we are officially empty nesters again.
Worked on many quilting projects today. Here is some of the pictures.

McMquilts x and o mystery quilt blocks 7&8

All the blocks so far..

Picked out fabric for Gypsy Queen mystery QAL
Will do 2 mini versions. Starts this Friday..cutting

2 set of fabric

Finished the backing for this mystery..Desert Blooming mystery my version. Also 1/2 the size of this mystery. Will machine quilt this. Probably for home in Marana.

Finally got this together and have decided to hand quilt this one. This is half size version of English Manor QAL by Ebony. It may get into her book. I signed a release last week. This is fabric that Dan picked out for my retirement. Will go in bedroom in Marana. Plan to do some basic quilting.

I have neglected the Carson theme quilt, now that it is cooler will begin working on it. It is about half way done. Would like to finish before heading to AZ in January.

McQuilts blocks...

Here are the next two blocks. I don't thinks I posted other blocks. They are simple and fun to do. Using up some of my stash after I ironed and folded the stash in dresser drawers. Would like to use more of this. Also worked on backing scraps for the Desert Bloom mystery quilt. And finally squared up some blocks for the shoo fly blocks for Dutch Treat quilt. Nice to do some hand sewing in the evening.

So far no news on potential buyers. Would anticipate a second viewing this week. Hannah is getting ready to go back to MLC on Thursday. We may take other girls to Wisconsin Dells Thursday to Friday. They go back to college next week.

Desert Mystery...my version

This mystery is now on the 17th clue. At the beginning I decided to do half size. Today doing this clue I realized I was one block short. I was able to whip one up, but looking at the last few blocks I have decided on my layout and finished the top. I will use scraps and left over blocks for the backing. As I have a few quilts to hand quilt, I will probably machine quilt this one, not sure if this will be a wall hanging, table topper or just lay over couch in AZ.

Ohmygosh quilt continues to progress

I have reached the half way point in the shoo fly blocks. Need to add more pink, blue and green colors. Nice project to do in car or watching TV. I think this will be my 25th Anniversary quilt. I might not get it quilted, but may have the flimsy done. This will be a heavy quilt so thinking of using wool batting. Will hand quilt it as well.

Yesterday we went to a movie as it was so warm and humid. Mission Impossible movie and it was very good. Today to State Fair and see Kenny Rodgers. Also visit tonTropics at the fair for Caribbean music, shrimp and drinks. But another warm humid day.

Happy Birthday MOM

Took a trip "up north" for mom's birthday. Good to see mom and dad. Both doing well. Poor little Maggie (the dog) not so much. Very warm day so spent it indoors.
Surprised mom with a small quilt and my old iPad wrapped inside. Abi was the Tudor for mom in using the iPad. Will take some time to get used to it for her.

Dutch Treat blocks

Added 3 more blocks to this quilt. So nice to listen/watch TV and do these blocks. They do try your patience, however the result is very worth it. Few other ongoing projects. Playing with some machine straight line quilting. Nice way to get projects complete.

Quilting and loving it!

Following blogs can be dangerous to a quilter. So many great quilts, quilt alongs and other ideas. While I did spend some time with my fabric stash. I ironed, re folded and organized drawers by colors. I discovered new fabric combinations. I worked on a block posted by the Academic Quilter. Simple but striking. I even added some log cabin blocks to the mini quilt. Now trying to decide on final border. Not sure it this is for bedroom or master bath in AZ. I worked on these blocks as I ran out of pink quilting thread on another small sampler I completed. This quilt I used some  pink fabric that I had a lot of. I think the name will be raspberry cooler. Pink with green. Something I do not do often. Quilting with walking foot on small diagonal lines close together. Something I really like. Maybe for the front door. So doing the sewing outdoors, sunny and cooler, but allergies got the best of me yesterday.

We have another showing of the home next week. We will take home off the market October 1st. At lease that is the plan. Hannah is done working at Target. A little rest prior to returning  for final year at MLC. Abi continues for one more week...fun in between. Cherith will work right up to returning to WLC.
Here are some pics.
