UpStairsHobbyRoom: Clay Post Crocheted Afghan: I am so sorry it has taken me this long to get the information together and post about it. I have been busy with the One Block Wonders BOM ...

A sweater for Daisy

http://thecrochetcrowd.com/dog-sweater/

Mom and dad brought their new bundle of joy home. Over a 600 mile trip to Iowa. Such a cutie.
So far so good per the new parents. I decided to try a dog sweater for Daisy. I used up some yarn and continued this week of crocheting. Quilting is taking a break. I have Hannah's quilt to machine quilt and would like to finish it before Thanksgiving. Pretty happy how the sweater turned out. Out in mail today.

Cherith turns 21 & fall crocheting project

Beautiful picture of Cherith on her 21st birthday sharing it with friends. Is feeling much better following car accident.

Ran across a Pinterest cool hat pattern and with cooler weather decided to get into some of my yarn to do a few hats.

Thursday Tumblers

I have not worked on the tumbler blocks for some time. Today my goal was to get a few rows sewed. Later in the afternoon I got out Hannah's graduation quilt. Purple front and Washington Capitals hockey fabric on the back. Sewed the back seam and cut out the cotton batting. May do some sandwiching tomorrow or this weekend. Then next week we will start the machine quilting. Not planing anything too exciting...straight line quilting. Would like to get this one done, wrapped before she comes home for winter break. This one will have to travel to Arizonia as we will head straight to graduation on our way home. Today Hannah found out she will be student teaching at Mt. Calgary Lutheran school in Waukesha late February until May. She will be close to sisters for a few visits. She is so excited for this next step.

Modern Quilt Block Quilt

Quilting

A few years ago I ran across a quilting site "Modern Quilt Blocks". http://www.42quilts.com/p/modern-monday.html
I thought they were unique and different. As with many early projects I got bright bold fabrics for this project. The. Other things got in the way. This past summer I revisited many of my UFO's. With a new winter home in Marana, AZ during the winter I thought these blocks could be turned into a wallhanging for my main bathroom. For some reason homes in this area are very neutral in colors. I put the blocks together and used up a few jellyroll strips. I have been dabbling in machine quilting and love the narrow straight line quilting. The quilting was perfect for this project. I spent most of the day yesterday quilting it and then hand sewing the binding in the evening. Love the outcome.

I made a few fabric pumpkins. I didn't have much orange, but used up some Browns and greens. Went outside and got some grapes wiggly twigs for the top. These could be very addictive. Added some lavender from my garden.

Cherith update

Classes resumed and Cherith is meeting with advisors and professors. All have been very open to slow progression of school work. Cherith finds it difficult to concentrate for more than one page. Lots of stress added in to an already stressful school year. Easily overwhelmed. Hopefully time will heal all. She also will need to do a lot of insurances paperwork for claims.

Abi has come home for her short fall break. She is looking for food to eat and just time away for a bit. We also got our car back after about a week of body work to the tune of $8,000 following a deer accident.

Fall is in the air, but warmer days. Have been a little lax on exercise this pass week, time to get back in grove.

Quilting today will be to work on some tumbler block rows for the Leader and Ender project-Bonnie Hunter.

Wine tasting and food pairing

Fall time in Wisconsin is one of my favorite seasons. Colors are spectacular. Today a drive to central Wisconsin before they all blow away. We also stopped by a wine tasting and food pairing shop in downtown Baraboo. We both enjoyed the experience. We have tasted many wines and these were some of the best.

A very nice day!

Follow up post accident

Follow up with provider today showed slight improvement in headaches. Stiffness and inability of move head and neck continue. All expected. Increased pain medication and use of anti inflammatory meds along with muscle relaxant in evening for sleep. Anticipate 2-3 weeks of healing. Then can begin stretching exercises. May also new physical therapy.

We drove to Muskego to look at some used cars. Settled on a Toyota Camery, green car. Cherith will not be able to drive it until she has better movement in her neck area. Let's hope this will last for a few years until she is able to purchase a new car of her choice.

Had to return to college early as we were close by. At least roommates will be gone another day. Hopefully she will be able to keep up with studies.

We did attend the Badger football game. Won the tickets and they were great seat, great weather and a win.

Some Sunday quilting...

Angels watching over Cherith today

This morning my daughter messaged she was leaving for home. A few minutes later she called to report she was in an accident. Someone had hit her from behind as she was trying to merge on to I 94 off highway 100. This area is under construction and is a mess. Her only complaint was a throbbing headache. I talked to her and tried to keep her calm until help arrived. Unfortunately the Sheriff felt she should be yielding to go on to freeway. Later found out that the man that hit her was arrested as there were several warrants out for his arrest. She was taken to Froiedert ER, treated for muscle neck strain and possible concussion.
We had to call for a rental car as Prius was still in shop. They delivered it to our home and we were off to the hospital, but they had released Cherith. Next the adventure to the tow yard. Damage extensive to the rear. Totaled car. We ended up contacting a salvage yard for pick up. Cherith got 175.00 for salvage. Now the hunt for a replacement car for her. Hopefully will rest this weekend.
Our car will not be ready until Tuesday...so rental car for a bit longer.

Luckily Cherith is ok and her personal property is not damaged.
Glad to be home after a long day.

Team Carson quilt meets another mini milestone.

Now that the weather is cooler, except for today....upper 70's and windy, it is time to spend some serious time quilting this quilt. I would love to have it done prior to leaving for Arizona in late January. Today finished the flying geese blocks. I loved this quilting on another quilt. Now starting on the checkerboard side of the quilt. Plan on some very basic straight line quilting. I will try to work on a block or two every evening. There are 16 total blocks to do. Maybe done by the end of the month. This will allow some sewing machine quilting during the day. I still would like to do folded prairie points on this quilt.

I am in the middle of two quilt alongs....Ten Commandments and Gypsy Queen, both using tow color themes. These will finish up around thanksgiving or so. Then plan on doing Bonnie Hunters mystery in November. I will also do Ebony Love's mystery Dear Laura in January. I however will do this one in red and white as a graduation present for daughter Cherith. Will start it, but then travels to AZ and possibly selling home in May, Hannah's graduation and her move may put this on hold for a bit. Not gong to take sewing machine to AZ. Although could buy one down there.

Packers remain unbeaten. 4-0...maybe this is their year.

Two days and so much done

Beautiful sunset this evening.

Our Friday movie this week was Martian...Matt Damon. Very good movie and lived up to all it's hippe. We saw it in Sun Prairie in the leather recliners our new favorite movie theater. Then a drive up north to see my parents as it was dad's 81st birthday. He looks and feels great. We had a fish fry dinner at the Golden Nugget in Fall River. Delicious perch dinner for me. We headed home just after 6pm and just outside of Princton a deer was in the middle of the road ad we had just driven over a small hill and did not see it until too late. It was a buck. Looks like damage to the engine hood, front bumper and driver side front. Easily 4-6,000 dollars damage. We only have one car. Girls will be home different days next week and following week so hopefully can get the repairs done and use their car. We do need a car for Badger football game next Saturday.

Today we went to Germanfest in Cedarberg. Super good turn out, good food and music. Westphpals met us their.

Here is some progress on the ohmygosh quilt.

Weekday getaway

Traveling to west central Wisconsin to see some of the fall colors. The day we left it was a bit foggy. Some colors around the Dells and some n Tomah area. We stayed two notes at the Cranberry country lodge, very nice place and had the pool area including hot tub to ourselves. Yesterday we drove among the Amish community. We say their homes, must have been wash day as clothes we hung very high to dry. We saw three Amish schools with children playing those simple school yard games. We stopped at a village that sold some Amish things, but way over priced. Lunch was at the European Cafe..I had Amish chicken noodle casserole. A stop at the log cabin we would like to buy still on the market and then a quick stop at Dairy Queen. We also took the Cranberry bog driving tour, but cranberries were already harvested. Very nice relaxing few days. Today is sunny and warm so will enjoy our trip home.

Able to finish a few rows on the ohmygosh quilt. Now up to row 10. I have 7 or 8 more rows to sew, so it is coming along.

Weekend review...

We always enjoy ribs from the Market in Lake Mills. This is probably the last of the year so bought two racks. They are always so good.

Then we were off to see our niece's soccer game against Maranatha. She is captain. It was a cold windy day..isn't always for soccer games. They all played so hard but lost the match.

Quilting projects....

Found out that one color scheme blocks from week 2 were sewn incorrectly so had to do some reverse sewing. Luckily we had only sewn two to this week's clue before it was caught.

An ongoing project of de-bone-ing of my scrubs. They are cotton and cute future fabrics for a quilt(s).

Returned to English Manor quilt from Ebony now that it is cooler. Actually felt good to have a warm quilt on my lap. Of course I have a helper that usually is on my lap but had to settle for another section. Nice to revisit this quilt.

I also finished quilting and washing my Autumn Country Roads.

Then watching the Packers..another great win. Is this the year?
