Week 5 Gypsy Queen QAL

Got to use some different fabrics this week.

Autumn Country Roads....now to hand quilting

Finished up with wonderful QAL by Lori at Humble quilts. I decided for this one to use oranges and greens...as it is soon to be fall. Love the final layout. I had some extra squares that I used around the border. Love the final quilt top. Even got a picture outdoors with green grass and some fallen leaves. Whiskers also made an appearance as he is always nearby during my sewing.

English Manor Mini...finished!!!

This was a QAL by Ebony earlier this year. I did a mini as I saw someone else doing it. I did the majority of blocks and they are half size the original. I first planned on original setting but decided to mix it up in a different setting. Quilting is pretty self describing. I plan on using prairie points on the big one, so tried it out on this one. I liked them pointing in and is great contrast against the blue border. Washed, labeled and hanging sleeve done...it's home will be bedroom in Marana AZ, in our new Sunflower Home. Will hang in January 2016 when we arrive.

Country Roads QAL...Falling Leaves ?...

Cute QAL. Love the little blocks. Got me thinking that it is fall...falling leaves on country roads...well had to use some of my fall colored fabric and do a mini in these colors as well.

Gypsy Queen...week 3

This is such a cool QAL. Great weekly blocks to work on and opportunity to improve quilting/sewing technique. Several fabric colors are currently being woven into most recent blocks with no clue as to final project. All instructions and diagrams done so well for all to follow. The current group is sharing their blocks with lovely fabrics. So inspiring for all.

Ohmygosh milestone

I have reached another milestone in this quilt's progress. I love these little blocks and sewing them by hand is great. Enjoy the pictures.

Week's accomplishments

Working on several quilt projects this week.
Gypsy Queen has posting so will begin this soon.

I also started Humble Quilts QAL- Country Roads. This is week one. Minature quilt. I am sure this will also be cute.

I finished the McQuilts sampler. Someone had pointed out that I had turned two blocks around in block 12. Luckily I had not seen the lateral strip and was able to correct it with doing to much reverse sewing. Lovely quilt and love the off setting of the blocks. Now I am taking some of the scraps for a scrap vortex theme on the back.

Finished the Third Commandment on the Ten Commandment Quilt along. Doing two color theme.

In evenings. Continue the hand quilting of the miniature Downton Abbey quilt.

Blocks for Humble Quilts Country Roads Mystery

I am doing this mystery in between other projects as it is quick and uses some of my stash. Love little blocks.

Will spend rest of day working on second color theme for Gypsy Queen Mystery.

A Milestone for "ohmygosh" quilt

Finally got to the end of some 440 tiny blocks that needed 4 triangles each side. Now have all the blocks cut and prepped to finish about 60 some shoo fly blocks.

Having a garage/moving sale this weekend. Annual Weiner and Kraut in Waterloo, always a fun time for city rummage sales and the wieners. Family gathers at our home to eat and visit. It might be the last time as our home is on the market with two very interested buyers. Awaiting a written offer. So we will see...

Labor Day weekend quilting

Labor Day Quilting

McQuilt sampler mystery
Ohmygosh quiilt blocks
Gypsy Queen mystery- two color schemes

Tonight...some hand quilting.

How about progress on the small blocks.."ohmygosh" quilt

Continue to work hard on these blocks. Progress of small blocks that are 2 inches. These will make 32 shoo fly blocks. Then have about the same amount to make again to have all the blocks complete.
Will work on these as they are hand sewn during out moving sale this weekend. Need to downsize.

My Gypsy Queen progress

Using two different color themes. I actually like both. I have had to use some fabric substitution but I think it will be ok. Added interest to the quilts. Love these blocks. They would be good for border blocks.
Finished first color theme...some different fabrics

Measuring up the squares

Laying them out to sew them correctly. I did 4 blocks at a time for total of 20.

Pinning as I see standing, and striving for accuracy.

Let's spin the back...

A few blocks

Most blocks will look like this.

Catch up ..

As the weather the past few days is hot and humid, Dan and I spent a few days in Wisconsin Dells-Glacier are in Wilderness. Fun to float in lazy river, buckets of water to cool off, and sitting poolside reading. Kids are in school so it was not very crowed. We enjoyed two favorite eating spots, Famous Daves -feast for two-ribs and more and on the way A&W burgers and root beer float.

Late start on my Gypsy Queen QAL. Week one -half square blocks. Fun to do. I had to piece a few blocks to assure accuracy which is my goal with this quilt. Have first color scheme sewn, just need to press, trim and assemble. Then I will do the other color scheme.

Accurate!!!

Last evening was the opener for the Badgers. They played a tough team, but looked good in first half.
They lost, but will be a fun season. We go to a game in three weeks.

We are also going to have moving/garage sale this coming weekend, so trying to get thins moved together so they can be set up mid week when it is cooler.

Tumblers ...X&O blocks

Worked on the McQuilt sampler quilt. These blocks are so fun to do. I really like how they are turning out. Had to do some fabric subsitution but that was ok. This will be fun to quilt.

Blocks completed.

Next up the Tumbler challenge by Bonnie Hunter. I had gone thru all my fabric and those small pieces I cut into tumbler blocks. I tried yesterday to get the pattern right, just something mentally I could not do consistently with pairs. Returned to her site and now laying out the rows. Sewed one row, then put opposite for the next row. I did four rows this afternoon. This is something that you have to do little by little. It is fun,but would not want to do hours of seeing them.
